This is a followup to my last post about using video on your website to help your online business. If you haven’t read that post yet, click here.
So maybe you’re a little reluctant to step in front of the video camera. That’s okay, take a breath, there are other options.
Use Static Images
There are a handful of free or inexpensive video editing software packages you can use on your Mac or Windows machine to create videos by compiling static images. The photos can be of your products and services, or of images that emphasize your video’s message. You can add motion and create effective transitions from photo to photo so that even though you’re just using pictures, it can provide that professional video feel.
Talkies – Using Voiceovers
If you’ve created your videos using static images, next, add a voiceover. Deliver your message by narrating the video the customer is watching.
Still Too Shy?
Don’t like the sound of your own voice? Get someone else from the company to do it, or better yet, hire a pro. Bring someone in who’s voice does the job for you. Or if you’re budget doesn’t provide for this you can use your video editing software to add actual text to deliver your message.
Providing video customer testimonials is AWESOME!!! Testimonials are ALWAYS good to have on your site. Have VIDEO testimonials is even better. It provides that much more credibility to the testimonial. This is another way to add valuable video content to your site without having to get in front of the camera yourself.
Adding Music and Other Comments on Production in General
Use your discretion on adding music. If it’s just use to polish the intro of the video, that can be nice and make it feel more “professional.” And it can also be good if the volume of the music is low and in the background during the video.
Edit the video so that it moves quickly while still delivering your message. It’s just like editing text. Most text that is originally written can usually be trimmed down quite a bit.
Don’t get too hung up on production value. While it needs to be at a certain level, YouTube has made it very acceptable to use a more low-tech approach. Make sure your audio is as good as you can make it. People won’t watch or listen if the sound quality is annoying.
Just Do It! (to coin a phrase)
Now get out there and start creating your video content!
